POINT G founder Julien Reignier

There was nothing in Julien Reignier’s journey that destined him to become a pastry chef, except perhaps an overflowing imagination and an undeniable love of all things delicious. From a very young age, growing up in Annecy in Haute Savoie, Julien felt a fiery passion for the culinary arts awakening within him. A born inventor, an tireless tinkerer, as dexterous as a watchmaker and endlessly curious, he already saw pastry-making as a playground where his ideas took shape as quickly as his hands could bring them to life.

After completing his studies in cuisine and pastry, he refined his craft alongside illustrious masters such as the celebrated Paul Bocuse. And because Julien is insatiable by nature, hungry for advanced knowledge and rare techniques, he continued learning in the world's most renowned culinary schools, where rigor meets excellence. His world soon filled with complex recipes, secret tricks and refined savoir-faire, which he absorbed with an almost legendary thirst.

With Julien, curiosity doesn’t simply knock at the door, it breaks down the walls. It drives him to constantly push the boundaries of creativity, to endlessly explore the chemistry of flavor, to transform a simple dessert into an almost magical experience. And in this endless quest, one thing remains certain: he has never stopped learning, nor reinventing pastry in his own way.

The Dawn of POINT G

In June 2005, Julien moved to Québec, drawn by the wide open spaces, charmed by the culture, and eager to seize the possibilities offered by the North American continent. He made his debut as head pastry chef at the five-diamond restaurant of the Casino de Montréal. Then in 2007, the budding entrepreneur decided to take the leap and devote himself entirely to the art of the macaron: POINT G was born.

In 2008, Julien opened his first POINT G boutique on Mont-Royal Avenue in Montréal. At that time, the macaron was still a mystery to most Quebecers. In a province where so many French culinary traditions had been introduced by earlier generations, no one had yet dared to bring this delicate European treat to the forefront. Julien became the very first to establish a true macaron boutique in Québec, introducing this jewel of French pastry to people who had never experienced it before.

With boldness and passion, he initiated Quebecers to a product that was completely new to them, laying the foundations of a macaron culture that simply did not exist prior to his arrival. And because bridging cultures has always been at the heart of his approach, Julien adapted the flavors to local ingredients, crafting creations that brought together the elegance of French pastry and the richness of Québec’s own culinary identity. Much like the artisans who once introduced bread, cheese or chocolate into everyday life, Julien paved the way, stirred curiosity, and anchored the macaron into Québec’s gourmet imagination.

The success was immediate. POINT G quickly won the hearts of Quebecers, and Julien Reignier established himself as a true reference in taste, creativity and pastry innovation. Thanks to him, the macaron is no longer an exotic curiosity: it is now an essential part of Québec’s world of indulgence.
